For a few years now, Korean sheet masks have been trending. They’re inexpensive and convenient. Some sheet masks can give instant results like pore-tightening and hydration. And some, they’re just fun, cute, and perfect for selfies.

If you must continue a weekly or daily at-home sheet mask ritual, try the molding rubber masks or bio-cellulose masks, aka second skin masks. These adhere closely to the skin and enhance absorption. Slightly more expensive than the ones made of fiber, it has higher absorbency, making daily application unnecessary. However, even the bio-cellulose & molding rubber masks do not replace professional masks.

Professional masks come in different forms and target more skin concerns. Unlike sheet masks, your esthetician customizes your mask to target multiple concerns. Using concentrated active ingredients, they can focus on different areas of the face. A favorite is the Molding Rubber Masks. Don’t worry; it’s not real rubber. It’s available for at-home use. However, the professional ones have more active ingredients and longer-lasting results.

It comes in a powder form. Here is how you use it.

  • Mix with water, and it turns into a thick goo.
  • Apply all over your face
  • Allow to dry.
  • Peel off in one big rubbery piece.

The Collagen mask easily absorbs because it is infused with hydrolyzed collagen-boosting elasticity and moisture retention. Cold when first applied, it quickly adjusts to your body temperature. Slowly molding to your face, the blob of goo feels kind of good.

Applying the facial mask

Once removed, the mask makes your skin softer, hydrated, and plump. Compared to the effects of at-home sheet masks, the professional rubber mask treatment results last 4-5 days longer.

Try it next time you get a facial!  <3

*prior to the mask application prep the skin with glycolic acid to allow for better absorption.
